Classical dance teacher
Following her training at the School of Balletto di Roma managed by Franca Bartolomei and Walter Zappolini, Letizia Piccione further explored her knowledge of ballet thanks to Paola Jorio, with whom she started her career as and assistant and teacher for the preparatory and advanced classes at Balletto di Roma. She graduated from the three-year teaching course of the Accademia Nazionale di Danza managed by Giuliana Penzi by presenting her final thesis with the lecturer Prof. Alberto Testa. The following year she also graduated with highest honours in Political Science at LUISS in Rome. She has worked with Maestro W. Zappolini by curating for the Balletto di Roma dance company the organisation and the logistics of a number of national and international tours. She was member of the board of Associazione Nazionale Insegnanti di Danza and since 1990 she has worked as a journalist for many dedicated magazines in the field. She also took part in a number of historical publications, such as the book on Molière, dancer at the court of Louis XIV, by conducting specific researches at the library of the Paris Opéra. In 2015 she participated in the “Propedeutica della Danza Classico Accademica” seminary of Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan. A strong believer in the educational purposes of dance and loyal to Balletto di Roma’s meticulous training tradition, she keeps teaching by especially focusing on children, in order to develop their expressiveness, creativity and musical sensibility. Since 2013 she teaches dance-play and preparatory classes at the School of Balletto di Roma managed by Paola Jorio.
