Director’s Notes
In The Arena Love, set in a timeless future, the themes of the diversity of love are explored: desire, erotic fantasy and subconscious are seamlessly intertwined together, as well as the essence of the human soul, cleverly hidden behind the armour of appearances and full of phony and useless frills. The Arena Love, which was created upon a musical collage that sees Antonio Vivaldi’s music combined together with the hip hop sounds of Wade Robson and the electronic soundscapes of Amon Tobin, debuted in Den Haag in July 2008 for the 30th anniversary of the Dutch Dansgroep Krisztina de Chatel dance company.
