Director’s Notes
The Little Flower King is the text by Květa Pacovská around which two historical structures such as Balletto di Roma and Teatro Gioco Vita Theater found themselves. This project explores the contamination between languages such as dance, shadow and music, thinking it for the audience of the little ones. The story tells of two young people close but far away to the point of never meeting. One morning she sees him take care of a flower bed in front of their houses, with that attention that turns to the deepest desires. So, observing him in secret, she begins to write the fairy tale that will lead them to their meeting on small notes. The Little Flower King it’s a performance where the theme of the pursuit of happiness is made lightly and poetry, with a simple plot and a visionary imagination. The tale takes on a scenic form with a rich musical tissue that accompanies the shadow images, taken from the illustrations by Květa Pacovská, and the expressive gestures of two dancers of Balletto di Roma choreographed by Valerio Longo.
