Alessandro Sciarroni is an Italian artist who is active in the Performing Arts’ field following several years of training in the visual arts and in theatrical research. His works have been performed in contemporary dance and theatre festivals, museums and art galleries, as well as unconventional spaces, and they often envisage the participation of professionals from different fields. He was invited to 21 European countries, in Uruguay (FIDCU) and the Emirates (Abu Dhabi Art Fair). His work Folk-s has opened the 2013 “Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales di Seine-Saint-Denis” and closed Wien’s “Impulstanz”, receiving prestigious invitations from major European festivals such as the “Kunstenfestivaldesarts” in Bruxelles and the Autumn Festival in Paris, with the latter dedicating him a monographic exposition in many theatres of the city. With regards to his last work, Untitled, it debuted in France in 2014 within the Dance Biennale in Lyons. In 2013 and 2014 he was invited to create two events for Biennale di Venezia, Dance section, managed by Virgilio Sieni. He participated in many circuits and networks for the diffusion of contemporary dance and the international artists’ mobility such as “Anticorpi Expo”, “Aerowaves” and “Modul Dance”, a long-standing cooperation project in which 19 European dance companies from 15 different countries are involved. He also took part in projects and research residences such as “Choreographic dialogues”, “Choreoroam” and currently “Performing Gender”, a European project on gender and sexual orientation. In 2015 he has been a part of the Migrant Bodies project, a research and choreography production project that has the aim of promoting thoughts and creations on the theme of migration and its cultural impact in the European and Canadian society. Alessandro Sciarroni is supported by APAP – Advancing Performing Arts Projects and his performances are produced by Marche Teatro in collaboration with international coproducers such Comune di Bassano del Grappa / Centro per la Scena Contemporanea, Biennale de la danse / Maison de la Danse de Lyon, Centrale Fies, Torino Danza, Mercat de les Flors-Graner / Barcelona and Associazione Corpoceleste_C.C.00# (of which he is the artistic director). Alessandro Sciarroni is one of the artists of Progetto Matilde, a regional platform for the new scene of the Marche Region. From 2008 to 2013 he has won numerous awards, such as Premio Rete Critica, Marte Award, Best performance award – Puf Festival de Pola (Croatia), Miglior artista emergente – Rivista Danza&Danza, Premio “Nuove Sensibilità”.
